Make sure your left hand is actually ahead of your ball when you putt. Hold this position as you swing the club, maintaining it throughout your stroke. This will allow you to firmly grasp the club during the stroke and keep the ball from skipping off the club’s face at contact.
Maintain a neutral grip with your hands on the golf club. Holding your club too tightly will veer your shots to the right of where you want them to land. If you hold too loose, the ball will likely go to the left. Use what directions your shots go to find the appropriate middle ground in your grip.
As you take your driving shot, your front heel should be in line with your ball. The starting, prime location of the ball, for all other swings, is centered between your feet. The exception to this is when your ball is positioned on a slope.
If you assume an unnatural stance, you could actually wreck your swing. One way to find a comfortable groove, is to practice different stances without using a club. Stand in position with flexed knees, bend a little at your waist and then let your arms naturally drop forward of you. Then clasp your hands as if holding a club and retain this position. If at this point you feel discomfort, rethink your positioning and try again.
