Hasn’t everything already been said about iPads? Some say it is the tool of the future, while others think it is nothing more than a toy. If you are interested in getting more use from your iPad, the piece that follows can really help.
Your battery won’t last long if you’re using the iPad a lot. Lowering the brightness on the screen can prolong the life of the battery. You might not ever need to use it as bright as it can be.
Do you get irked each time you get a message from your iPad wanting to know if you want to join a new wifi network that it has just picked up? You can go to your settings and disable this feature. Just go to the tab for Wi-Fi, and there is an option to turn off the prompt. It is the final option on that page.
If you have safety concerns should your iPad fall into the wrong hands, set the password to delete your personal data if someone enters the wrong password over and over. This will get rid of everything on the phone if someone cannot figure out the code 10 times in a row.
General Tab
“Ding!” Does the chiming of your iPad whenever you receive another email drive you crazy? This can be turned off! Go into your settings, then choose the general tab. Under the General tab, select Sounds. You can stop the sound for new mail or at least turn it down.
Click Settings, Mail, Contacts and Calendars to add Google Calendar to your iPad. Select Add an Account and tap the Other one. Choose “CalDAV” as the account type and type in your Google credentials. Once done, click the calendar app. You should have everything you need now.
You can now quickly mute your iPad. In its first incarnation, the iPad lacked a specific mute button. Once iOS 4.3 came out, there was an option added where your lock switch can mute the sound. Just tap and hold volume-down to quickly mute sound.
Create FaceTime phone contacts, as well as emails. The email you used to set up your iPad will be your default, but you can always add more. In order to enter these additional emails and phone numbers, go to the settings menu and choose the FaceTime tab.
The quickest way to paste and copy on the iPad is to tap and select the needed text and hold your finger on it for a few seconds. Next, choose copy and go into the field that you want the text. You can then paste. If you want to copy and paste a paragraph, you will need to click the area four times.
Did you know that the iPad has the ability to cut and paste snippets of text? Tap on the section of text that you want to reproduce and choose the select function. If the text has a yellow highlight, you’ve done it correctly. Choose “copy” to save the text to the clipboard. You are able to paste text by just tapping and then choosing Paste.
Like most computers and electronics, the new iPad comes with pre-installed apps that are of no use to you. Many of these apps cannot be deleted. You can put them in a folder and location where they won’t be in your way. This frees up space so that you can easily access apps you actually use.
Shutter Button
Most of the time, you will hold your device on the edges when you take photographs. This will cause your shutter button to go in and out, resulting in blurry pictures. Use the orientation lock. This helps your thumb reach the shutter button easier. Snap the picture and use the editor afterwards to edit the media to your liking.
Even if you think this is unnecessary, it is wise to add a security feature to your iPad. You don’t know when you could lose it by accident and someone could find it and access your bank information, addresses, phone numbers, emails, etc.
It does not matter if the iPad is only a gaming system or something stronger, you can get more out of it if you wish. This article is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to learning about iPad usability. Keep up with newly released tips, and you will enjoy your iPad experience to the fullest.
